Prof. Nyuk Hien Wong

Dr. Wong Nyuk Hien is a Professor in the Department of the Built Environment at the College of Design and Engineering, National University of Singapore. He earned his Ph.D. in Building Performance and Diagnostics from Carnegie Mellon University, USA. As the Principal Investigator, he has led numerous research projects funded by various Singapore government agencies, focusing on natural ventilation and thermal comfort in residential buildings, hawker centers, and schools.

Prof. Wong has conducted extensive research on the Urban Heat Island effect in Singapore, exploring mitigation measures such as the effective use of urban greenery and cool roofing materials. His accolades include the Local Merit Scholarship from the Public Service Commission of Singapore, the Building Science Gold Medal from the National University of Singapore, and the NUS Excellent Teachers Award, which he has received three times since the 2003/2004 academic year. He has supervised numerous graduate students, published 151 research articles in journals, and authored or co-authored 21 books and monographs. Prof. Wong is also a member of several national and international advisory and editorial boards and has delivered numerous invited presentations at scholarly meetings and workshops.
